Shelby Silsky is a Clinical Therapist at New Beginnings, providing therapy to clients of all ages affected by sexual harm in Daviess, Hancock, and McLean counties. She also provides medical and legal advocacy to survivors. Shelby employs an individualized approach to meet the unique needs of each client, utilizing evidence-based practices such as EMDR and TF-CBT to ensure effective and compassionate care. She integrates Polyvagal Theory into her therapeutic work, emphasizing trauma’s impact on the nervous system, which can lead to dysregulation. Techniques based on this theory aim to help clients move from a state of survival to one of safety and connection, promoting resilience and healing.
Shelby began her journey at New Beginnings in January 2021 as the Client Assistance Coordinator, transitioning to the Victim Advocate role in January 2022. In May 2024, she graduated from the University of Kentucky with a Master’s in Social Work and subsequently joined the clinical team under supervision as a CSW, working towards full LCSW licensure.
