Join us mid September 2026 as we bring in this exciting training to our community with the assistance of the Owensboro Health Community Investments Grant.
The overall goal is to build resiliency through reframing the trauma experiences of the community. All community service providers will benefit from increased knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed care, complex trauma, dissociation and Somatic Experiencing (SE) techniques. We must promote a system that recognizes, understands, and appropriately responds to trauma and its effects on children and families.
The objective of this 2-day program is to provide a dyadic and experiential program for mental health professionals to learn about somatic therapies as well as practice somatically to increase somatic awareness and processing.
Caron J. Leader, LCSW, ACSW, SEP, will facilitate the program, lead group exercises, and direct small group work. Caron J. Leader is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Indiana and Kentucky. She is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, a certified EMDR and Safe and Sound Protocol therapist.
Ms. Leader will provide the educational component and presentation. She will also facilitate breakout work in a small triad group style to facilitate learning. Some information will be provided didactically to focus the discussion and provide context. Experiential exercises for the whole group will also be facilitated with a focus on deeper learning of somatic therapies.
Registration will open in early summer for this event.
